WHEN YOU LANDED by Karen Marie Christa Minns

It suddenly occurred to me
You are nothing
I ever asked.
Too young and raw,
still bleeding
from your past.
I expected darker eyes;
blackest hair.
A willow, tall, and wise,
to lead me
on a Golden Path.
Not you.
Not ever you,
with your sapphire sighs;
a head of red and silver, with
your wicked laugh,
and bawdy ways.  I find you
set down, beside.
My heart
unchained, in this
raucous time;
with these heavy tasks.
We walk
together.
We share blood.
Bind our wounds, our
deepest scars,
realizing
just maybe…
It’s Destined Adventure,
the Outlined Journey,
tattooed in fire,
set high
among the burning stars
