Nine firemen and an ice cream (The tragic expression of unmet need) by Fiona Goodwin

Companionship around an ice cream cone
Not world changing
or contributing to any great planetary need
Something so good about firemen and salt and caramel
They is the antidote to the knowledge of our impermanence
and the tragic awful expressions of our unmet needs.
Our cries for help sometimes never reach the surface
They twist us up in bad behaviour and
If shamed or left unheard
They will set ablaze
Whole towns and hearts
However you express your pain,
I will hear yours, maybe you will hear mine…
