WATER POEM FOR A PLAGUE YEAR by Krista Minns

I could love you like the rain.

A quiet trickling, down
to the opened ocean, growing
wilder
towards the waves.

I could love you like the rain.

Silent
as the dewy morning carpet,
so soft and
brilliantly laid.

Heady as
a thundercloud, torrential,
flashing or ephemeral,
foggy and gray.

I could love you
like a wild river or,
Love you,
like the courting rain.
