Protective // 2022 deep blue river musings By debbie Carrier

Protective
Protected
Innocent eyes smiling wide
Like draperies in a great hall where music plays
You don’t fool me
You fill me
With anticipation of a coming age
Hearts
Open out on the line of love, the scent of lavender in the breeze blowing, lifts my nose
My senses overflowing
The dance you do
With light stepping feet
Inside my soul
Childlike
Tentatively
glancing ( blows) of spacious well-timed
Soul beats
Opening doors and turning turntables
Protective
Protecting me
Coming to greet
And glow
Like hot milk in a kittens plate
Simmers in a well baked sun
I am undone and flying
A kite on a line
In a wave force
Glitter
And Jesus
Angels and honeybuns
Fruitful
Delicious

Protective
Protected
She tucks me in like a mother does a child and hopes I sleep through the night
A finger in my curls
Magic dust
Black boots
Curious
Hopeful
Being real
No longer hiding
So protective
Of this baby bird
In
Flight.

Bright blue eggs are ready in the nest
Tiny hairline cracks appear
Chirping
