MY MUM by Patricia Behan

This is a poem is about my mom Waltraud who is in the beginning stages of dementia/depression

I Walk In The Door With My Head Held Up High
This Woman I See A Reflection Of Me
I Know Of Her Struggles For I Lived Them Too
You Say You Have Failed Us But This Is just Not True
You Did What You Thought Was Right So We Had A Bed To Sleep At Night
Two Years Ago Mom Went Away
I Begged Her To Stay
I Promised Everything Would Be Ok
Now Every Once In Awhile I Will Catch Her Smile
It Is Enough To Get Me Through Each Day.
