HAIKUS by Beth Haist

CERTAIN PUNISHMENT:

counting syllables
as Basho and Ito laugh–
Incongruous hail.

          *
NEXT TO ME

american dream
roof down, hand on the throttle
her hellacious curves

         *
ROADSIDE JUNK

Old man evicted
As cawing crows circle
Dive-bombing his life

        *

METEOR SHOWER

She quiets my words
Allowing airbrushed intent
On our night bodies

SHHHHHHHhhhhh
 her cool, detached eye/studies
pastoral thumbnails/painting still waters… that was a tease , a dreaded haiku in the midst.
