ANNIVERSARY POEM by Susan Byrnes

I went to Facebook
And what did I see
But Fiona Godwin
Staring back at me
Who is I wondered
What is she
Is she a butcher a baker
Or a mad music maker
Maybe a rocket scientist
Or English thespian
Then I heard her say
I am a very British lesbian
Oh yes she said
With the loveliest voice
I am a lesbian woman
That is my choice
Maybe you will follow me
And we will meet each week
I ask you to bring your essence
Both strong and weak
Others came they felt the vibe
Before you knew it
We had formed a tribe
What makes it special
I will not dissect
It may be a community
Or a place to connect
The fair one Fiona
Is the spark that lit the flame
Now we gather as sisters
And we have the same name
