A SLEEPING GIANT by Fiona Goodwin

She is camouflaged by sand
A sleeping giant
You wouldn’t know she was there
but she’s been asking to distinguish herself from the beach
To shake off the grains of concealment
“I am as bright as the Sun”
I heard that today
It reverberated around a cavern of crystals
Carved by the fiercest of waves
I’m asking to go deeper
I’m asking to be purer
My business is with the invisible,
There will be no accolades
No fanfare of greatness
I’m asking for the hunger that will be satisfied
With nothing less than communion with me,
Communion with thee
And with the great expanse of mystery.
