Mind Shadows by Jen Curry

Shadow shadow awakened in the night.
My shadow comes into the light.
Will you reveal your insight?
Do you want to give up the fight?
Shadow will you show me delight?
Shadow shadow sheds thick skin.
Family shadows given from kin.
Shows up after drinking gin.
Why do you feel like sin?
Causing so much chagrin.
Shadow shadow I need help.
Why shadow do you beat me with a belt?
Leaving deep dark welts.
This is how I really felt.
Will you melt?
Shadow, shadow you seem so mean.
Why do you tease and become obscene?
Acting, like a keen machine with a ridged routine.
Holding me in-between the unseen.
Preventing me from being a queen.
Shadow shadow is, really my friend.
Will come for me and defend.
Blending the whole so I can comprehend.
Uplifting me, to ascend, to transcend.
No longer pretending in the end.
