UPGRADE by Fiona Goodwin

My operating system
Has gone in for repair.
Covid did it.
It was overdue
I kind of knew it was coming
And when everything shut down
It seemed like the perfect time
like I had no choice.

You see I was built for altitude
But the old programming
Made everything shake
Above A certain height or speed
Then I would just fall back into the same old same old.

I believe the software upgrade
Will support the very latest technology
The new Blueprint feels a little far-fetched
But The cracks that had appeared under pressure
Informed the current design
That’s where we are strongest

I had help on the way obviously
The divine, my tribe, I fear and loneliness all were guides
In the shooting for the stars…
