Uber Girl by Terra Kay

The night before I met her
I breathed in perfumed air
Picked out my outfit
Deep conditioned my hair

Anticipation stoked the fire
of all I hoped there would be
slid down that romantic portal
rehearsing my love theme

I give her too much credit
thinking there is time to spare
I imagine something lasting
sipping champagne in night air

Oh no, dear God
this can’t be happening
crickets we had nothing to say
disaster date was looming

Nice meeting you she says
and thanks for coming today
then taps on her cell phone
the Uber’s on its way

She mashed up all my love songs
to her, each one only clay
I took her at face value
just a stop along her way
