ROCKS by Lynn Finch

All my life
because I’m gay
I kept picking up rocks and stones. The sadness, loneliness of the life I supposedly chose.
Rocks and stones until the weight got unbearable
And a lovely soul
Simply said
Lay them down
Stop carrying another person’s weight around
So finally I heaved
The heavy bag down.
And my feet felt light
Like I could float about..
I try to encourage others
To just lay them down.
