REMINISCING JULY 27, 1995 by BJ Parks

Remember that feeling…when you saw her across the room, you had seen her before but tonight is different.  Your eyes locked, I should look away but I just couldn’t and then you feel a smile starts creeping across your face.
Remember that feeling…when you conjured up enough courage to go over and ask her to dance.  She took your hand and it fit like a glove, as I took her in my arms she fit as though I had been saving that space for her forever.
Remember that feeling…at the end of the night you had to ask for her if you could give her a call and she already had her number written on a card and placed it in my pocket. I turned to walk away but stopped to ask was tomorrow too soon.  She kissed me on my cheek and said, I can’t wait to hear from you.
Remember that feeling…as you were planning that perfect first date.  The perfect restaurant, not too big, you know something with candles and an atmosphere with promise.
Remember that feeling…over the next twenty some years laughing uncontrollably over almost everything, late night picnics in bed, Wednesday night dates that usually ended up being a bubble bath and wine, finishing each other’s sentences, calling each other every day just because, that comfortable silence when you didn’t need to say a thing, reaching over to touch her hand and she would look up and say “I know I love you too”
Remember that feeling…even after all these years making love was filled with such deep passion that you weren’t sure you would survive, The way she  said your name as you would fulfill her bliss, the way we would crumble in each other’s arms with our desires complete.
Remember that feeling…the next morning when she called to tell you that it was her not you, she had found someone new and she didn’t love me anymore.
Remember that feeling…when you realized the exact moment that your life had turned into a lie and a monumental waste of time.
