REAL FLOWERS by Fiona Goodwin

What is it about real flowers
The ones that die
That shed their petals
That make a mess

If the doorbell went
And the Interflora deliverer stood there with the biggest bunch of synthetic roses
Would you feel that tingle of joy
Would you say these are the best
they last forever
They require no maintenance!

They just don’t cut it when it comes to love

I think you and I are a lot like real flowers
Impermanent, messy, need watering
And I Know how I would feel
If you turned up at my door.
