Overthinking by Fiona Goodwin

In the face of something new
My face now takes a different view
I’m the luckiest girl alive,
I survived
I got better,
And now when my overthinking mind
Won’t let me be,
I take hold of her
Firmly but more gently than before,
And I ask her to back off
To relent,
I tell her there’s shit to do
And I don’t have time for her tortured ways
It’s the sword of the samurai
The crack of the whip of the lion tamer,
This life is a circus that’s for sure.
