My New England by Fiona Goodwin

Heading east on the redeye
To the city of lobster and lesbians
From a town where there were none
(Truthfully I just couldn’t see them)
My England is a long way from here
My new England is coming in to view
And so is my
Unencumbered self.
Today I sipped my Nespresso
Before sunrise
In my home beneath the mountain
I shivered with cheeky glee
And wondered
What right do I have to be this happy?
With no one to blame
But myself.
