MY DEEPEST PRAYER by Fiona Goodwin

Smiling blue eyes and holy prayers
Promises of an unconditional love
That never in my wildest dreams could I have ever imagined
I brought you in
to play the part of my mother Superior
Better than my own,
Smarter, wiser,
You came
In answer to my deepest prayer
the one I prayed before the world began
To be a light that could not be stolen
To speak my truth
To never shy away from
The threat of the consequences of not giving you everything you want.
Goodness can you longer be extorted from me
You played your part to perfection
And I played mine.
