LIGHTING A FIRE by Laura Merritt

There is a method to lighting a fire.
Just a spark. A mote of static energy. It exists for the briefest of time. A flash, less than a heart beat until returns to empty space.
You lay the tinder. Gently. Loosely. Providing a nurturing bed for the spark to take hold. Self reflection, acceptance, and forgiveness. The flame flares feeding on these simple truths. I release the constraints that have dampened my heart and mind. Walls and masks and gaurded emotions.
You lay the kindling. Feed to flame with breath and substance. Empathy, compassion and love. The fire bursts forth. Hungry for growth. Never again will it be just a spark.
