LIFE ON HOLD by Julie Williams

Life on hold.
4 walls shrinking.
Thoughts like wasps buzzing,
Stealing sleep.
Postman knocking and dropping,
no stopping for words.
Bin men scattering –
the only other sign of life.
Air solid as porridge.
Television on loud.
Date unknown,
Time guessed only by light and darkness.
Car accumulating moss.
Window gazing at sky and earth, nonchalant.
Birds flying and tweeting, oblivious.
Foxes foraging at overflowing bins.
Calendar empty.
Contemplation.
Life on hold.
