LET US PRAISE THE CATERPILLAR (in honor of Dr. Anne Lee) by Karen Marie Christa Minns

Let us praise
the caterpillar
before
the butterfly.

Why?

It does not reside
in Beauty.

It knows
nothing
of its Fate.

In Humility

it finds
it’s Purpose.

Head down,
it seeks
it’s Way.

To Gobble Life
unflinchingly,
without pause
to Create.

Camouflaged
by Nature,
famished,
So Silent and
unknowing of the
Universal scheme.

There is such Pain
in Brilliant Promise;

a remembrance
in caterpillar dreams.

Miracle Awakening!
Courage
through metamorphosis!
Past life’s pure
Astonishment!!
Sudden
bursting Glory!!

O Yes:
O yes!
There are Wings!!
