KEEPING OUR SONG ALIVE by Fiona Goodwin

There is a lady that sings
Outside my window
She’s not really made any progress
But in eight months
Her fervour and gusto have not been dampened
By the neighbour who thought
he could silence the bad singing
By mimicking her loudly
I have to admit I did laugh
I’m sorry
But I bow down to the woman
Who is keeping her spirit alive
By singing her song
Despite hostility
She’s building
Her stairway to heaven.
