KALISQUE LOVE by Beth Haist

Hindu goddess Who carries a sword a scimitar and trishula (trident)

She chased me until I caught her-
Unaware that the magma of us-
Was molten-

Pure heat– able to bust thru
Granite with our sheer intensity
Of spirit
And connection-
&
WOMAN we connected , like warriors coming home–finding water, the sun, the sky all brand new-

Our voices carried,

Like rugby players
Grinning after scoring–
Lifting each other up,
From the mud,

Only to laugh, and fall in-
Again & again.

After 4 months, 2 weeks, 3 hours and 15 minutes
Of untamed, unbridaled us-

Yes,no doubt the earth shook, and yeah the planets aligned for a moment-

I am almost positive NASA discovered a link between solar flares and our two hearts.

I sent you feathers in the clouds and you gave me wild horses in the backdrop of high desert mountains-
The heat of us I am certain
Foretold in the stars-

But magma shifts, wildfires burn-

But no doubt our paradise cove existed just for you and me and me and you.
My mind’s eye still holds you,
Perfect like a diamond,

But I woke up AGAIN today,
Again without touching you,
And,
The gossamer thread between us was already
gone
in a whisper-

Now, just
a burnt tendril of smoke
hanging in the air.
