Dear Friend by Jen Curry

Your hunger for love,
awakens mine.
Although, I am full
to the brim.
Can we ever
have too much? !
You call,
for the second time.
I’m hearing loneliness
in your voice.
We clarify what
feels obvious.
Welcoming, hard questions
that once appeared
to be probing to you,
Now are sighs of relief
That I inquired.
Avoidance, and anger
seemed safer to a wounded
heart and mind.
We were suffering from denial.
Years have past.
Vulnerability and honesty
has taken its rightful place.
That is what happens
As relationships
develop into intimacy and
defenses fall away.
