As life turns on its head,
roles reverse overnight.
Years that passed unnoticed,
suddenly thrown into sharp relief.
In this, our new reality, I sustain her,
as she has sustained me:
enduringly, consistently, patiently,
for over half my lifetime now.
And as I hand her the bags,
her interface with the outside world,
I wonder:
Am I keeping her alive,
or am I handing her death?
