Will it last ?

We’re in this together
Wash your hands
The End
By Beth Haist
We all our learning this new language together
Some are fluent already
knowing when to shower hearts
and condolences
Steering through this quagmire of fear and loss
Inside silly jokes of ‘mango chutney’ with my son
The easy camaraderie of joy and laughter
Me always the straight man to his zingers
A simple share of ‘Let’s watch Cirque de Soliel
Sing-A-Long together” I connect with my person
Even my sister’s ‘I LOVE THAT’ comment on
Facebook becomes almost poignant
For I know she in real time is juggling her online work
with retirement now looming TOO close
My son”s trip to Portugal in June is cancelled but he is so young just a quarter century into this thing
So many adventures lie ahead , no worries DUDE!
It is my friends’ shaky handheld video of a flock of 50 or more cedar wax wings coming through from south america
No, it doesn’t replace , get together(s)
Hugs or kisses
For that matter the elixir of the GODs: back rubs AHHHHH
But it works–
It punctuates the silences
With hope and oh I cannot wait until it accentuates each of our lives again,
that beauty of real connection and touch
The beauty of essential work and common
Hope.
I know, I do not stand alone
But Lord I cannot wait until the reunions start
OF home & hearth
work & play.
