CORONA CRYING by Fiona Goodwin

I am being peeled like an onion
Cracked like a walnut at Christmas
Just enough pressure to break the outside
I prayed once to be useful
“Whatever it takes “ I cried
The alabaster jar must be smashed open
To spill the perfume inside

That damn alarm it can’t be stopped
The heat outside means I can’t go out
I’m getting grumpy
But I have no right
I’m alive for God’s sake
And if I cry
Please let it be from gratitude.
