The fields lay beneath a haze conjured by thousands of living emerald stalks of maize. Yet green in the July heat. Respiring breathe in mosture to the flat broad leaves hanging still in the mid-day sun.
In the breezeless air droplets steam and stiffle in the heat. Vaporizing. Hanging thick clouds shimmer in the distance over a sea of corn. Mirages waver on the horizon and tease with the lure of relief in cool clear pools
