He was 5 when he had cancer
It took him til 10 to ask me this.
“If something bad had happened, when I was sick..”
“Like if you died?” I said.
“Yes, if that had happened. Would you have killed yourself?”
Wow. He asked that!
“No my love, I would have wanted to but how could I do that to your momma and your brother?”
“That’s what I thought. Ok!”
He went right back to sleep.
I went back to bed and cried and cried.
Felt so terrible that I felt certain I had lied.
