ADMIRATION by Fiona Goodwin

I want to be the one I admire
I have walked
Unsuspecting streets
And been harpooned by admiration
It has gripped my heart
Held me captive
It’s made me less than who I am
When I am taken hostage
By how you shine
I am committing a crime against myself
When I make My admiration of you
A weapon against me
I have forgotten who I really am
And I need to give myself a firm but gentle talking to
You don’t know who you are or who you will become
Let’s be kind
And use the shine of others
As a reflection of what we have not yet seen in ourselves.
