A MILLION EARTHS FIT INTO OUR SUN By Beth Haist

The rays machete through my apartment today
slashing thru the gloom adding hope layer by layer–

Light lifts me-
Allows fresh insight into how fleeting these moments are–
Either shelved, or put aside

Or catalogued with careful precision.

Still SHE beckons-the Hope of one Sun,
One red dwarf star
Hurtling beams,

Throwing diamonds and prisms
She pushes into the darkest caves-
By pure happenstance

Blasting a way OUT–

Just as I stand in this precipice
so do you This moment is full of promise–
For a minute longer–

Held gentle, blown from the embers
Of yesterday

Careful, focused intent
Edging the day forward

Time to begin again

We are not privy to know another’s heart, mind
soul, body

Until we show them bit by bit–
Layers of dust
Crashing waves of Us

Famously collide

In-thru-out-In
Capable to hold each other
Capable of loving

Acquiesce, she whispers
So I do
And my knees bend
My hands supplicate, and reach thru the haze

Waiting, hoping, dreaming, doing.
