A CLEAN BREAK by Fiona Goodwin

I have to drive to Hollywood today
To check on the mailbox for a friend
Who moved east
The post office is on Cherokee
That made me think of Lynn Finch
Then I will return a Mahjong set
To a friend who taught many of us women how to play
And then I will visit my friend who is blind and fell and broke her arm yesterday when she fell over the open dishwasher door
“God news!” she told me on the phone
“It’s a clean break! No surgery required!”
She was so grateful
It’s good to be happy over broken things
Especially when it’s a clean break.
