The trouble is, you think you have time
I seldom know what day it is or
What the hands on the clock say
It hasn’t always been that way
Much to my dismay
First one to get there
Last one to leave
Very productive and efficient
Every step of the way
What did that get me
Many professional opportunities and
Accolades along the way
I was able to travel the world
Make many friends and hopefully
Create many little differences each day
Nothing about this would I change
I’ve struggled with the transition
From my professional life
To just being me
I’m a lot closer than I used to be
I really don’t care about the time or day
I had a blinding glimpse of the obvious today
You see my journey is long past half way
So this is my approach for the rest of my days
I will care about my family
I will care about my friends
I will care about opportunities where I might lend a hand
Sometimes just showing up is all that there is
I’m grateful that I was reminded by a precious friend
That’s cause to think about time
Is very different than mine
Thank you my dear Tela Louise
The trouble is, you see
You think you have time
