THOUGHT AND THUNDER STORM by Fiona Goodwin

The rain came down last night
I imagined the building splintering apart
It was so fierce
The floor shook
I looked out of the window to see and feel the sky
And remembered
Where I live there is no view
I was at a crossroads
I could focus on being barred from the sky by walls and glass
Or I could keep thinking about the destruction of my building
And how I would be flung into the sky.
I had another option
I felt the warmth of the sheets and my furry blanket
And the gratitude in the shelter from the storm
I smiled at my mastery.
