NEVER IN by Jacqueline Conroy

I never knew there was a word, a box to fit in, how absurd!
I kissed the girls and fell in love, this feeling fitted like a glove
You can’t do that! they said to me, I’ll do as I like so leave me be!
I didn’t know another way, I just knew that I was gay
The way I felt when with a girl it made my heart jump and do a twirl
So when asked the time I came out, did I protest, did I shout
I pour the tonic & then the gin, and declare, my darlings, I was never in!
