MY STARRY NIGHT by KIrsten B Tucker

For too long a time, I became mired within
Tumultuous emotions drowning, raised by fears and doubts.
The unknown, once was a wonder, eliciting excitement and awe.
Purposefully explored and sought to plumb its depths for answers and new paths to tread.
Lost was this wonder when storms darkened the horizons and answers no longer sprung forth as leaping fishes.
Thick fog of uncertainty smothered my air.
Black clouds of doubt pressed from above.
Thunderous fear lashed out with lightening storming force.
Raging seas rose above my head to crash down cold through my soul.
Dearest stars, please, please find me again, I prayed,
For in the finding of me, they must break this storm!
Breathing in, breathing out, gathering stillness despite the unfriendly waves.
I kept my eyes to the world around me, ever searching, ever seeking those stars, or even just one.
Without ever knowing of it, without ever noticing the quiet shifts in my course.
My soul, unerringly soared towards a light in the distance.
At once I stilled, for I saw…something…
The twinkling in the black roiling about me, there! It did keep reappearing.
As I traveled closer, more oft’ did it appear and stronger did its’ light become.
Till it was as a candle on the water, a starry stream of light.
All encompassed by Reds and Browns swirling around changeable autumn eyes.
My hope, my happiness, my dreams pending expansion upon arriving in that stars’ warm embrace.
In shades of Grey, I stand between the darkness and the light.
Ever warming as I bask in the Star’s growing love.
Fluttering in my breast, a knowledge of deepest connection.
A surety of knowing.
The storm rages on, waves rising and crashing,
Lightening flashing and thunder clapping.
The power of this Star keeps me afloat.
To keep an even keel while riding the tumult.
She, this Star resurges the wonder of the unknown.
No longer do I fear the darkening clouds.
Happily do I see the answers that were merely waiting to be seen.
Gone are all qualms.
For with Her, this Star, there is no doubt.
For with Her, this Star, there is unwavering possibility.
For with Her, this Star, a companion willing always to explore and share the discovery of the unknown.
