HAIKUS by Beth Haist

#18
Sliced red au jou pears
Swimming in a warm compote
We leave uneaten

What more Is there?

Sighs of various
Sizes fawning over me
In the steaming dawn

To peppercorn/doofus

His cat eyes blink love
Soft furred courier of peace
On a frigid night

Ok, a dark one:

The Burial
Scream and howl and smoke
The frozen ground breaks my heart
His soundless shovel
