DON’T TOUCH – STAY WELL! by Lin Joy Luber

They say all we have to do is stay in the house or mask up to go outside
They say if we listen and follow the rules some day well get to hug , instead of hide
But they don’t know that to touch someone is how I stay alive
it feels too much for me to stay locked in , When I can’t even look you in the eye
Dont touch , STAY well, thats all it takes, for us to make it through,
but if I cant even give you a hug
I don’t wanna stay around here without you
I lost my dog, my lover too, and as I pace around the hall These walls are closing in on me,
what to do, no hand to hold no one to call
we are all in this together, -yet we are in this ALL alone different reactions and different pains, and what to gain? some new insights and new talents, friends to phone
Don’t touch, STAY well, that’s all it takes for us to make it through
but if I can’t even give you a hug
I don’t wanna stay around here without you
I got up this morning, ahead of the sun put on my white mask and gloves
and as I was walked ,a dog was squirming and squealing jumping up and down, as if it read my mind
She strained away from her leash and humped on me,
I swear she put a kiss on my behind
Don’t touch, STAY well that’s all it takes,
for us to make it through
And I thank god for that shaggy dog,
who felt my vibe and and touched my heart, now I’m not blue
